8/23/2012 - It's been a busy several months, not only performing in my capacity as jazz pianist/composer, but, increasingly, as
composer for media
, writing, producing, mixing, and arranging music in a variety of genres (including some recent collaborations with "The Roots" on their last cd, Undun, as well as a performance with Questlove as part of his Shuffle Culture project at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's opera house. I also recently got back from St. Louis where I performed with World Sax Quartet bari saxist Hamiet Bluiett, bassist William Parker, and drummer Hamid Drake in front of 8000 people at the
Whitaker Foundation Festival
, and am currently performing in Capri, Italy in the Italian debut of my trio featuring Tony Lewis on drums and Mark Peterson on bass. I'm also excited to continue my work teaching at the Harlem School of the Arts and at Hunter College, and will shortly launch a new online jazz membership-based course called "Jazz As a Verb"….
