D.D. Jackson

I am a two-time Emmy Award-winning composer, producer, and Juno Award-winning jazz pianist and educator. As a composer, I specialize in writing, arranging, and producing memorable, custom-made music for t.v., film & other media. I consider myself an "artistic problem solver": I strive to get to the essential conceptual truth of what the client is looking for - and to express it in a creative and supportive way. MUSICAL THEATER & MOVIE MUSICALS

As a graduate of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, I love writing music in a musical theater style, whether for t.v., stage or film. Here are a few more musical examples in this sphere:

HOLLYWOOD MUSICAL!

Here are some pieces from the feature film, "Hollywood Musical!", for which I wrote the music for all the songs and underscore in collaboration with director, producer, lyricist, editor, and actor Alexander Baack (of Force Studios):

"Something's Gotta Give" from Hollywood Musical!

"Somethings Gotta Give" from the film "Hollywood Musical!" directed by Alexander Baack. Music written, arranged and performed by D.D. Jackson. Lyrics by Alexander Baack.
Featuring (in order of appearance): Hillary Baack, Alexander Baack, Dee Ann Newkirk, Beth Lane, Stefan Lingenfelter and Angela Pupello.

"Here I Am" from Hollywood Musical!

The performer on this next one (music written/performed by me; lyrics again by Alexander Baack), is the incomparable Angela Pupello (I also do a cameo on piano :-)):

"SHE GETS THE JOKE" (from the musical  "DEPRESSED, DEPRESSED")

This was one of my favorite songs I wrote with bookwriter and lyricist Carl Kissin for our unfinished musical "Depressed, Depressed", performed here by Carl (with myself on piano). Find out more about what Carl's since been up to here (he was recently named "Best Lyricist" at the New York Musical Theater Festival for his musical "Date of a Lifetime"!):
